  1. isnt pectin a chemical can you make it without pectin….what is the purpose of pectin

    1. Pectin is gelling agent and is mainly extracted from citrus fruits. Citrus fruits and apples are high in pectin that is why when you make for example orange marmalade it has enough of natural pectin, that is why you don’t need to add anymore. But blueberries don’t have pectin, so you have to add it to be able to create jam. I hope that helps. 😉

  2. Thank you for the recipe! I am looking forward to trying it. Could I substitute strawberries for the blueberries? Would the same amount of pectin and sugar be used?

    1. I would say yes since blueberries and strawberries both have low amount of natural pectin so the portions should work. If you try it please let me know how it turned out. 🙂
