  1. Another great recipe from Kristyna! Love that the outside of the karbanatky is crunchy and the inside is tender and so tasty! Thank you!

    1. 🙂 I am glad you like them. You perfectly explained how wonderful they are. 🙂

  2. I tried it and added Indian Kabab mix for taste. Delish!!!! Thank you Krystina!

    1. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

  3. Hi,just a suggestion. I am from Frydek-Mistek. We always had a gravy or compot with this meal, or else it is too dry to eat and the potatoes stick in your mouth.

    1. Yes, we used to have compot as well growing up in Czech. Even a pickle is good. 🙂 These Karbanatky are pretty juicy though.

    2. I’ve enjoyed Czech Karbanatky all my life but never quite knew how my mom made them. On a recent trip visiting my relatives I was back to that ever juicy treat. I was told they add shredded zucchini to gives it the juice also make sure you’re using more pork than beef as in the recipe above. I added 1 shredded zucchini not sure whether Cz. they use more but that did the trick. I don’t find the need for gravy but its nice too.

    3. Domovský region Leoše Janáčka! Navštívil jsem ho. Jaký nádherný venkov a krásné město! S pozdravem z Connecticutu v USA.

  4. This was delicious! A gravy would have gone nicely with it, but it definitely didn’t need it in my opinion. My four year old’s enjoyed it as well (of course I’m lucky to have protein loving kiddos). The only downside? I definitely ate too much!

    1. So glad to hear that you all enjoyed it. 🙂 It is hard to stop eating them. 😀

  5. Great recipe, simple and tasty. Just to share a thought, here in Texas we cover everything with hneda omackab (brown gravy). But found grandma’s old nakladany zeli or pickled cabbage recipe and made some to have in just such a case. Anything like this is awesome with a little nakladany zeli on the side. Besides, if it ain’t covered in gravy, we pickle it. – Na zdravi

    1. I am sure it would be also tasty with gravy. And yes nakladany zeli is perfect combo for sure. Glad you enjoyed it!

  6. Thank God that there is some one that shows western people what good food is….and can be made EVERY DAY…please keep up the history lesson for the young and old……lucky husband…..hay..look after this good woman!!!!

    1. Thank you for your kind words! 🙂

  7. Vážená Kristýno! Dostal jsem dnes knihu od Amazonu, je naprosto nádherná. Poslal jsem druhou kopii své sestře, která bydlí v Londýně. Děkuji, děkuji, děkuji, a blahopřeji!

P.s. Máte náhodou recept na houbové karbanátky?

    1. Moc děkuji Jim! Jsem rada ze se líbí. Tento recept nemám.

      1. I had amazing karbanatky when in Cz. R. this year then saw your utube and tried it. It is our favorite now they freeze well too. I do it with pkg. gravy good enough. Also add to your quota half grated zucchini makes them super moist!! Does not compare to our Western patties. Must be all the garlic and marjoram makes it so very delicious. I like the bread crumb coating texture and use the seasoned crumbs. Also keeps them from falling apart during frying. Just wish we could have the same potatoes as Czech so much more flavor. I see why they all have a huge heap on their plate, they are a deep yellow.

        1. I am glad to hear Jean you enjoyed this dish. ☺️ Yes my mom also noticed that USA potatoes are not as yellow. I wonder why is that.

          1. Have you tried Yukon Gold potatoes? They are pretty yellow. I admit it has been 17 years since I was last in the Czech Republic. So my memory is a tad fuzzy on the color of the potatoes…

          2. Yes in USA I buy mostly gold potatoes. Still the Czech potatoes are more yellow. 🙂

  8. This dish is AMAZING! We have a hockey player living with us from Czech and he recommended this dish. It was so simple and used things we had on hand. Your video was just wonderful and so helpful. Thank you for helping me to make it a success. Can’t wait to try more of your recipes.

    1. I am so happy to hear! How thoughtful of you to make it for him. I am sure he was very happy for that! 🙂
