  3. I have been searching for a recipe close to the garlic soup I remember from cesky krumlov. All other recipes are for a creamy soup, but you nailed it! It’s so good I could eat a pot a day! Thank you!!
My toddlers watched your video too and were excited to help me make this simple soup. They loved it too!

  4. I really want to make this soup but I’m allergic to potatoes 🙁 Any suggestions for a substitute? Do you think parsnips would work?

    1. You could just skip the potatoes and add more bread and cheese. Parsnip would probably work too even though it is less authentic.

  11. What is that bottle that looks like soy sauce? You said your dad likes to add a bit.

    1. It is Maggi brand called Seasoning.

      1. Thanks. Made this last night and it was delicious. Tempering the egg with some soup before adding it to the pot gives the soup a velvety texture.

        1. Great tip! Thank you 🙂

  12. My husband and I made this last night. We boiled some chicken thighs for broth and decided to throw the chicken meat in with the potatoes. It was so good. I am certain it will be good with water, but you might try it with chicken.

    1. Glad to hear it was enjoyed. Yes the garlic smell is very strong. 😀

  18. Haven’t made this before but it is fantastic. I’m Czech, and I make a lot of recipes and a lot of your recipes. I live in a part of Iowa where there aren’t any Czech restaurants. Thank you for sharing your heritage.

    1. My pleasure. 🙂

  19. Thank you for this recipe. It yields the most perfect soup.

    1. I am glad to hear. 🙂

  20. My father (who’s gone now) always spoke of his Czech grandmother’s potato soup and how he never could figure out how to replicate it. I’ve often wondered what a traditional Czech potato soup would be. I will try this, but since he, his mom, and grandma are all gone it’s hard to know what he was remembering.

    1. I actually have a recipe for Potato Soup. Maybe you can try that one? It could be it.
