  1. Thank you for showing me how to make so many of the dishes that my mom made for me when I was growing up. This beef with sweet tomato sauce and dumpling dish is one that I have not had in a long time. The problem is that I keep trying and failing to make the dumplings properly. I came close one time but they were still soggy around the edges and never looked as good as yours. Please help me if you can.

    1. Hi Dan, I am sorry to hear about the dumplings. They are like a science and take time to perfect. Mine are also little soggy, which is ok. That is why when I take them out of the water I flip them so the wet part can dry up better. Keep trying and I believe it will work out. This dish is good with plain pasta so maybe you can try that. 🙂 It is easier to make. 😉

      1. I am so excited to find your recipes, my Grandma and Great Grandmother were both Czech and I grew up on so many of these recipes, my Grandma was my very best friend and when she passed these dishes were very rarely made, with your recipes I will bring them back to my family!!!

        1. Thank you so much Christine for your words! It means so much to me!

      2. Have you tried steaming them instead of boiling them in water? Not soggy at all!

        1. Yes definitely and I prefer steaming them.

    2. Steam the dumplings instead of boiling.

  2. In a search for something new to cook, I came across your recipe for rajská omáčka! It looked and sounded good, so I made some last night.

My Czech husband was pleasantly surprised! He enjoyed it very much! I had to make a gluten free version; I used rice flour for the sauce in place of wheat flour. Rice flour takes up moisture (like rice); as a result, my tomato sauce came out a little thicker than yours looks in the video. Otherwise it was sweet, but not too sweet.

The taste of the beef with the sweet tomato sauce was very tasty! It will be a new favorite at our house!

I also made gluten free dumplings–my husband ate them, too. I’m pretty sure he’d love to have the “real” version, but was happy with the gf version 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing your recipes here!

    Hezký den,
    Sherry

    1. Hi Sherry, I am glad you enjoyed the dish. And wow you nailed it with gluten free version. That is impressive. 🙂
      Hezky den 🙂

    1. Dobrý den, na amazonu by měly být v lednu. Prave se dotiskly.

  4. Jak to maso uvarit v pressure cooker?

    1. Až maso které je nakrájené zavari, tak vařit 30 minut.

  5. What cut of meat did you use? You never said in your recipe.

    1. Eye round roast, which is a good price.

  6. When you use the pressure cooker, are you saying to cook the meat for 30 minutes after pot gets up to pressure? I’m new to pressure cookers so I’m not sure! I don’t know anything about Czeck cooking but have a senior acquaintance that misses having Czech food at home. I wanted to make her something she might like and this recipe sounds like a dish she described to me! Thanks!

    1. That is very thoughtful of you. 🙂 When the meat in pressure cooker starts to boil, lower the heat to gentle boil and boil for 30 minutes. 🙂
